weekend inspiration: aurora islandica

I disappeared from the blog for the past week partly because I’ve been busy and partly, well mostly, because I’ve been feeling creatively stuck. I needed some time to get unstuck and to reflect on what I’d like to do with this little blog of mine. Although I can’t say that I quite figured it out, I figured it’s best to jump back into it and just take it one post at a time.

So in the name of inspiration, here is a breathtakingly gorgeous video to start your weekend. I nearly cried when watching this, but I tend tear up at anything vaguely dramatic and emotional (yeah I’m totally that kind of girl). Or maybe it was just my heart aching to see something this stunningly beautiful some day. Have any of you seen the Northern Lights before? It’s looks magical…

P.S. Worpress seems to be acting up right now, so if the video isn’t embedded above I apologize. But if you click on the link you can still view the video.

christian siriano spring 2012

Another of my favs from NY Fashion Week: Christian Siriano’s gorgeous neon and neutral spring collection. Oh I love it so much – the bright saturated colors make me so happy! I want to wear this neon chartreuse maxi skirt and just twirl and twirl and twirl… And then I’ll wear that last dress with its striped tube top and puffy skirt of bright red tulle and go walk along the beach like it’s no big thing…

jill stuart spring 2012

New York Fashion Week is over – did any of the runway shows catch your eye? Here are some of my favorites from the past week. More to come!

I thought Jill Stuart was so perfectly lovely and with a dose of candy-coated girly-ness that I can never resist.  I loved the colors, the patterns, the drop waists, and the sheer flowy skirts.

bouffant. pearls. very large sunglasses.

Did anyone else catch the TV special on Jacqueline Kennedy last night? Whether or not you’re a fan of her and her iconic style, it was pretty interesting. But then again I’m always fascinated by historical narratives and learning about famous peoples. And few of the things that Jacqueline recorded in her interviews definitely caught me by surprise! Love the sunglasses though…

the pressure… is good for you?

I don’t know if I believe this, but pressure sure is what I’m feeling. I need to get myself organized, make some plans, make a move. But it can be all so overwhelming… and scary. I used to be all about the pressure. Give me a deadline and I’ll give you something fabulous. Now I’m trying to figure out how to make something fabulous happen for myself and I’m not quite appreciating the pressure this time around (thus my belated Monday post – my apologies!). So please excuse me while I run off to make some lists, wring my hands, and come up with a plan!

black and white and type

Not much to say. I just like it. Black and white always looks so chic, doesn’t it?
