he loves me, he loves me not

This photography series “Exploded Flowers” by Qi Wei is mesmerizing. What detail and patience must have gone into creating these shots petal by petal! So beautiful!

let them eat cake

It’s after midnight where I am, meaning it’s officially my birthday and making it totally appropriate to post pretty pictures of cake. And seriously, isn’t this cake amazing? Pink ombre cake? Love. If only I were a baking kind of girl.

Instead of avoiding my birthday and freaking out about turning a year older as is usually my custom (one year, in the midst of a full on quarter-life crisis, I actually banned all mention of my birthday which sounds really quite obnoxious now that I look back on it), this year I’m attempting to embrace my birthday and just enjoy the day. And you know what? It feels pretty good.

I love these darling cake paintings by Paul Ferney from his Let Them Eat Cake series:

so ranunculus

I’ve always been non-committal with my answer to the favorite flower question, but this photo may have won me over. Ranunculus it is! This photo has been floating around the blog world and it makes me swoon every time I see it. Isn’t it beautiful? It makes me want to wake up at the break of dawn and wander through the flower market, gathering up bundles of brightly colored flowers wrapped in paper and then take them back to my charming (and as of present, completely fictional) flower shop where I’ll sell them to the customers who will sit in my shop and drink tea served in mismatched vintage teacups. le sigh.
